Happy Monday!
Kind of ironic, right? I’ve had a bunch of Mondays that were no fun at all, so the “Happy” part of that phrase is tough sometimes!
This particular Monday, I’m appreciating my rockstar team. That’s right – the people that help me each and every day to make it all happen!
Let me be clear, I hated group projects in high school and college. In fact, I was convinced that “teamwork” was totally a myth. I was always the overachiever in the group that refused to earn less than A+ work, so I usually took on the brunt of the work.
My experience in the real world has been very different in the most positive way. Now I serve in a role where I am the team-builder, which has been awesome and scary at the same time!
Getting to this “rockstar” level of teamwork is no small feat. In fact, I spent a couple of months recruiting one of my team members. It was kind of like a professional romance, you might say. Only no flowers were involved. Or chocolates. I knew that she was a perfect fit for a new position that we had created. I knew that she would love working with our team, and that the work would be professionally challenging and rewarding for her. You might think that this position was a sales or management position, but she works in an admin support role. I spent a lot of time building our professional relationship so that she would be placed in the right position on our team to help us grow.
Throwing this out to the group – best or worst team experience? Let ‘er rip!
